My day with champ the kiwi!

Today I took champ home and we had so much fun time together and here is the proof:

We did a lot of fun things like Paddle Boarding proved by Seletine's iExplore. Champ kind of fell into the water but I saved him and dried him off. That's why he looks good as new. We ate popsicles with my sister and I caught Champ eating my pasta and drinking my juice. We took selfies together and weird photos and we had a modeling show with Champ and myself. I shared my lunch with Champ as you can see on the bottom left picture of Champ and I. Why I have a towel on my head is because I took a shower and washed my hair. I DID NOT wet Champ, only pretend shower for Champ with my sisters bath play set.

And here is some random pictures of Champ and his other friends:

Here is #oresome Champ showing off to the WORLD!!!!!! Well done Champ for taking over the show!

So champ here: I enjoyed the day with Vrishti she took care of me so well so i would like to thank you!

To Mr Dyer: I want to say thank you for letting me take Champ home and enjoy the day with him.

thankyou vrishti!!!!!

Expectation-
You walk into school with all your friends and everyone says "ohhh ahhh"

Reality-
You walk into school by your self and nobody notices you.

Expectation-
Your locker is by your friend/s.

Reality-
Your locker is 50 lockers away from your friend/s.

Expectation-
You always finish your homework and never get in detention.

Reality-
You never finish your homework and ALWAYS get detention.

Expectation-
You eat your lunch like a girl

Reality-
You start eating like a pig.

Expectation-
Everyone thinks your famous and popular in school.

Reality-
Everyone thinks you are a STINKER!

Expectation-
You go to school nice and early

Reality-
You go late and you get in trouble.

Expectation-
You will make a first impression by getting your teachers chocolate!

Reality-
You end up getting in trouble for bringing chocolate to school!

Expectation-
You never get bully at all and you have a very cute boyfriend!

Reality-
You end put getting bully everyday and after school, you go home crying because you got dumped by your boyfriend!!!!!

A day in the life of being Queen for a day!

Hi everyone i am back but not as a ordinary kid instead a queen for the day! Can you believe it the queen replaced herself for me how about that it will be a miracle!! Well I would say it s a miracle ay am I right!!!!???? Anyways I have more royal stuff to do like request a candy day to be held and the poor people should get a opportunity to recreate their prior knowledge of the rich side of the world, am I right? Well just because I am queen for the day doesn't mean I have less work to do so   tata and I will begin my work now to 10000000000000000000000 more things to do!! First I have to open one of the kindergartens in the west side of my castle which of course will take at least 2 hours. Secondly I have to talk to the minister of education to have every school a reopening g day for the new learners to learn more about their schools to build their prior knowledge as I would talk talk in big words. Thirdly I have to request my royal advisers that they have to ask the principle of higglewiggle bottom primary school to give more healthy food in the tuck shop meanie because the kids in the school kind of get hipper of the junk food that they consume. Now my final thing to do before I go to the 101 meeting that has took place only today!.Back to the first all thing I was talking about man I get distracted very  quickly. See I told you now where was I ohh yeah the final thing I had to do and guess what that final thing was it...to have a another meeting before the meeting that I was going to have another meeting with the prime minister John key also accompanied by Oprah the new chocolate factory owner!! Oh no why did I ever thought this kind of work was easy for me how could I apply for this job and now the queen. Will be mad at me because I haven't done what I had been expected to do our I really fell bad!!!!!. "Wake up Vrishti you are getting late for school". "Wake up already" "mum was I dreaming???? ". "Yes now hurry you will be late for school the 101 time! Tata for now!

Bye hope u enjoyed!

Halloween trick or treating Expectation vs realality

Expectations are:
-Getting lots of candy
-Scaring people
-Getting invited to a Halloween party.
-Going trick or treating with friends
-having a scary and cute costume for the event.
- Having a great party at your house without parents permission.
-Getting creeped out by someone.

Reality is-
-Having the least candy out of everyone in your street or lane
-you keep failing in scaring friends or family.
-not getting invited to a Halloween party
-have none friends to go trick or treating with
-don't have a creepy or cute costume for the event
-your parents don't agree or you get caught
-that creepy guy who was freaking you out was your brother or sister!

What was the outcome of all of these?

Well for me i had a boring Halloween because i spent my day watching creepy movies with my mum.But it was kind of fun and also i hope you  enjoyed your Halloween so bye!

Vrishti's Habitat Hui Narrative

Learner: Vrishti                                                        Date: September 2015
Learning Area: Habitat Hui                                      Learning Coach: John Dyer
Learning Observed
During Term 3, we have met as a habitat on Monday afternoons to share our learning and discuss life in our habitat. Each week, new learners have been responsible for presenting the Hui and helping to organise the content.

Vrishti saw a need to have an overarching agenda that could be adapted each week and used to help the presenters run things. She helped to design the layout and organises the learners each week so they know when they are presenting. This responsibility has been good for her and provides an opportunity for her to grow her leadership potential.
Evidence of learning

Key Competencies/Vision Principles being demonstrated

Thinking - Making sense of information, experiences and ideas.
Using language, symbols, and texts - Making sense of words, numbers and images.
Managing self - knowing when to lead, when to follow and when to act independently.
Relating to others - Interacting effectively in a range of contexts.
Participating and contributing - Being actively involved in school and the community

Collaborative
Connected
Capable
Next Learning Steps
Vrishti is encouraged to continue with her planning our Habitat Hui. She should ask learners and coaches what things they would like included in the Hui. Things may take a permanent slot each week such as NZSL while other may change, like an upcoming event.

Collaborative Games iExperience Narrative

Learner: Vrishti                                                            Date: August 2015
Learning Area: Collaborative Games                             Learning Coach: John Dyer
Learning Observed
At the start of Term 3, we embarked on a journey of collaboration. All the learners were put into groups that were mixed age, ability and gender. It was a time for learners to get to know each other and develop their ability to collaborate with each other outside of the habitat in a variety of games and activities.
Vrishti participated effectively in the activities, demonstrated persistence and was a good team player. One of the challenges involved guiding a blindfolded team-mate over, under, around and through a course. This required a high level of patience and strategy. Vrishti and her group experienced difficulties but worked together as a team to overcome them and were ultimately successful in the task. They learned about the importance of sticking together in order to reach your goals.

     Evidence of learning

Here are the successful warriors
working hard and playing hard.

They were rewarded for their efforts and learned about themselves and about ‘Collaboration’

Here is Vrishti presenting her learning with her group.

The challenges that Vrishti faced provided opportunity to practice existing skills and learn new ones. A worthwhile challenge would be for Vrishti to apply her collaborative learning to other areas of the curriculum when she will continue to work with a wide variety of other learners.

Oresome

New school

I wrote this acrostic poem for ormiston because this school is so oresome and mostly when learners represent our school like when jahnavi went to papatoetoe north school and said her persuasive speech.Did you know that ormiston primary is so mighty do you know why i will tell you, ormiston is so mighty just because of our learning coaches and Mr.McNeil who encourages us to be collaborative and the rest of our 4 C's.Also if you didn't know that our school is so intelligent because our lovely learning coaches have taught the learners so much that my parents call it the smarty school not just my parents but other people have said it too. Yet Not just intelligent but also we are so smart well as i said the learning coaches  ALEENA ORGANIZED THE TALENT SHOW!Man it was #oresome!

I loved it!

LH1 Pet iExplore - Learning Story - September 2015

Learner: Jahnavi & Vrishti                                                     Learning Coach: D Wilkes
Learning Area: iExplore, Social Science & Science                                 Date:  Term 3
Learning Observed
Vrishti has been diligently completing her iExplore on identifying the most suitable habitat pet.  She has been researching, refining her ideas and recording her learning for others to use to learn.  She has used this as an opportunity to complete a statistical investigation in order to determine which animal our LH1 learners think would make a good pet.  When Jahnavi joined our habitat the two learners decided to collaborate on the project together.  The iExplore learning adventure stemmed from their curiosity around which animals schools are allowed to have as pets. The girls have responded to feedback from Learning Coach and learners in our conferencing sessions and are open to ideas.
Evidence of learning

Screen Shot 2015-09-06 at 10.02.30 am.png
Key Competencies/Vision Principles
Vrishti and jahnavi have shown they can be collaborative when sharing their research and receiving feedback.  They have demonstrated capability at researching to answer specific questions- skimming and scanning and pulling our key ideas when summarising texts. They are making connections to prior knowledge and experiences.  It will be exciting if we get a pet after all this work!
Next Learning Steps
  • populate the plan with all details and links required (fact files, KWL chart, statistical investigation)
  • write a blog post about your experiences
  • create a quiz using kahoot to check for learning from the focus group
  • put the plan into your Learning Pathway as a learning artefact and share it with your family

My visit to GAFE

                                                                      My visit to GAFE

On Wednesday 12th August the GAFE presenters went to Hobsonville point primary school to present their presentations which had a little twist because some of the learners went along to support the presenters.

When we entered the school first thing my eye caught was the boy who was giving a emotional speech which kind of made me feel like crying. The real moment was when we were split into the groups to do the whole school activities. My first presentation i saw was part of ,my school Divya and Aryan were the first ones too get ormiston primary learners! Then after exploring presentations and activities we all had lunch together all siting in one single bench, man that was tough fitting in cause the teachers squeezed in too somehow!!!But anyways we had so much fun also when traveling through the bus,we sang songs, played games and had votes in the activities.

Then the long day ended with going home i wrote in my blog and the mysterious diary which no-one will ever find about. We ended well YAYYY!!!

Leadership Experience Fun Masters - Learning Story - August 2015

Learners:  Joshua & Vrishti                                                        Learning Coach: D Wilkes
Learning Area: KCs and Literacy                                                Date: Aug 5
Learning Observed
It was impressive to watch these two learners collaborate togetherto provide the fun part of the ‘Leadership Experience’ as a long awaited follow up to the NYLD that all the Year 6s attended in Term 2.  Vrishti and Joshua co-constructed their activities (which can be found in the presentation that housed all of the other learner’s presentations) and they MCed the games like true professionals.  When the order of appearance changed multiple times they just rolled with it demonstrating confidence and resilience.  They selected some fun games that they participated in at NYLD to recreate at our event and kept the energy levels high for the entire afternoon.  The learners loved doing the Mexican Wave and especially the egg challenge!  Practicing their public speaking, writing and leadership was what they did while the rest of us enjoyed a fantastic afternoon of entertainment and fun!
Evidence of learning
Vrishti & Joshua amp up the crowd with fun & games!
Key Competencies/Vision Principles
While Joshua and Vrishti collaborated they made direct and indirect connections to their experience at NYLD.  The related to others, managed themselves responsibly and participated enthusiastically on the day.  They were enthusiastic and responded to changes with resilience.  The preparation for the egg challenge was great and the modification to the games for a smaller crowd was thoughtful.  They made us curious and they made us laugh!
Next Learning Steps
  • practice the games
  • write a blog post about the afternoon including their reflections
  • share their learning with family at home
